Cast Resin Vessels
by Kate Rohde, Australia

Design history is the artist’s playground, and she indulges in it with wanton abandon. The neo-Rococo visual cornucopia that results is intended to overwhelm and inspire. The work is equal parts reaction to a minimalist childhood environment and a celebration of the availability of imagery and color in the modern world. While evoking the abundance of digital pastiche that saturates commerce and urban life, the artist’s work is hand sculpted in clay, then cast in meticulous molds.
